Scholarships For High School Seniors | TUN

 

Community Foundation for the Alleghenies   Visit cfalleghenies.org/scholarships.  All easy-apply scholarships are available from November 1st through March 8th.  

Susan M. Hunter Scholarship 2025:  Students must be the child of a corrections employee (current, full-time, retired, or deceased) within any CLA member Department of Corrections or jail/prison system. Must be enrolled full time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.  The scholarship amounts awarded will be $1,500.  To apply, please visit the website at https://www.correctionalleaders.com/smh-scholarship.  Deadline is March 31st.

Susanna Cook Tent 61 Scholarship:  Available to Seniors. Those interested will be required to write an essay to answer a question connected to the mission of the organization, which also has current event implications. Submitted papers will be judged by a team of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War members and the winning entry will be awarded $500.00.  Deadline is April 1, 2025

Technician Training Scholarship for Thomas AutomotiveApplicant must have an interest  and passion for automotive technology and the desire to learn and master the craft of technician in a dealership environment. One Senior student will be awarded in each of our markets located in Johnstown, Bedford, and Cumberland.  Successful applicants will receive a total of $3,500 ($1,000 and $2,500 to spend on tools paid out over their first year at the company). Completed scholarship application packages must be received by April 1st.

Birthright Essay Contest - Applicants must be in 12th grade, and reside in Somerset County. The eligible student winner will receive $1,000 and &750 to second place.  Visit the website at  www.brithright.org/somerset.  Application deadline will be Friday, April 4, 2025.

Design a T-Shirt Contest AwardContest is open to students in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades who live in Somerset County. $1,000 will go the winning entry and $750.00 to the second place winner.  Application deadline is Friday, April 4, 2025.

Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative Scholarship:  Must be a senior enrolled in an accredited college or university and your parent's primary residence receives electricity from Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative.  The winning recipients will be awarded $1,000 and notified by May 1, 2025. Deadline is April 10, 2025. 

Citizenship Award:  Applicants must be a senior and they do not have to have a relative that is a veteran to apply.  Applications can be picked up in the guidance office.  The Deadline to submit is April 16, 2025.

REV. Jay E. Shaffer Student Award:  Applicants applying for this award should demonstrate good moral character, shows kindness and respects/values others, exhibits strong work ethic and leadership qualities, serves others in the community by volunteering through church or club activities such as NHS or a church youth group, and participates in extra-curricular activities (all clubs, organizations and athletics qualify). A $250 award will be given to a graduating Senior that can be used towards any needs/training for the work force or towards a secondary education. Deadline is April 25, 2025.

American Association of Drilling Engineers Scholarship:  Five $2,000 AADE scholarships are being offered.  These scholarships are being utilized to encourage college bound high school seniors to consider a career in the oil and gas industry.  This scholarship is being limited to Petroleum Engineering majors; engineering majors or Energy Industry related majors.  It will be cased on academic excellence, financial need and extenuating circumstances.  To qualify  the candidate must have a GPA of 3.5 or above, scored at least a composite 27 on the ACT, or scored at least a minimum 600 in Math and 600

Michael L. Brady Scholarship Fund:  Applicants applying for this award should demonstrate good moral character, shows kindness and respects/values others, exhibits strong work ethic and leadership qualities, serves others in the community by volunteering through church or club activities such as NHS or a church youth group, and participates in extra-curricular activities (all clubs, organizations and athletics qualify).  A $500 scholarship to 3 graduating seniors. One senior student will be chosen for their academics, one for athletics, and one from the FFA program to receive the scholarship. This award can be used towards ANY needs/training for the work force or towards a secondary education.  Application Deadline is May 2, 2025.
