PFEW - Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week - open to any sophomore or junior.  This is a week-long educational program that teaches students to understand the operations of a business including marketing, accounting, supply and demand and more.  PFEW also helps students develop critical skills in communication, leadership, time management, problem solving and team building all while improving their self-esteem and confidence.  Because of a rolling acceptance, interested students should submit applications right away.  Spaces fill fast!  More information is available in the guidance office and online at www.pfew.org/student-application.

Keystone Boys State Leadership Development Program for young men- June 18-24 at Shippensburg University and the cost is covered by an American Legion Post - Students must have completed their junior year of high school.  Applications are available at https://pa-legion.com/programs/student-and-youth/keystone-boys-state-program/

State Police - National Guard Youth Camp - June 11-17 at Messiah University.  Cost is covered by an American Legion Post.  Students must be between the ages of 15-17 and be physically fit, in good health, and have a good academic record.  Applications are available at www.pa-legion.com

March 15 - The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have significant financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  The scholarships are given to deserving students each year and range in award value from $10,000-$25,000.  Applicants must be a high school junior and demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income).  Apply online at www.scholars.horatioalger.org

March 31 - The Birthright Essay Contest awards $1000 for first place and $750 for second place.  Any interested senior can get more information and applications at the guidance office.

March 31 - The Birthright Design a T-Shirt Contest is open to any interested senior.  First place award is $1000 and second place award is $750.  Stop by the guidance office for application and more information.

April 10 - Somerset REC $1,000 scholarship applications are available in the guidance office.  Any senior whose parents primary residence receives electricity from Somerset REC and is enrolled in an accredited college or university can apply.

May 19 - Rockwood Manufacturing has created two annual $1000 scholarships for Somerset County students.  One is for students who plan to pursue a Vocational Trades education and one for students that are pursuing an Engineering degree.  Each winner will receive $1000 and also a job with Rockwood Mfg. during the school breaks and summer vacations to introduce them to the field of manufacturing.  Applications are available in the guidance office.
