Greetings Shanksville-Stonycreek Students, Parents, and Community,

I am honored to serve as your PK-12 principal and proud to be part of Viking Nation. This is my first year in the district, and I am eager to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff as we work together to create a supportive and thriving school environment.

My journey in education began in 2009 at Forbes Road School District, where I taught English for grades 9-12. During my five years there, I also served as the Student Council advisor, Drama Club advisor, and Musical Director. I then spent two years teaching English 11 and 12 in Washington County, Maryland Public Schools before returning to Pennsylvania. For six years, I worked at Central Fulton School District—four years as a middle school reading and gifted support teacher and two years teaching AP English Literature and Composition, as well as 11th and 12th-grade English.

In addition to teaching, I served as an adjunct instructor for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, a gifted education program for school-age children. Most recently, I worked as a District-Level Administrator at Chambersburg Area School District, serving as the Special Education Supervisor of Program Behaviors. These experiences have provided me with valuable insights into both classroom instruction and school leadership, shaping my vision for fostering student success.

I graduated from Northeast High School in Pasadena, Maryland, in 1993 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English with secondary English certification from Wilson College (2009). I later obtained a Master of Education with a K-12 Reading certification from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (2012) and a Post-Master Certificate in Educational Leadership (PK-12 Principal) from Pennsylvania Western University, Edinboro (2021).

I firmly believe that every child can learn when provided with the right tools and opportunities. Students thrive in an environment that offers structure, consistency, empathy, and understanding. My goal is to create a school where students feel safe, empowered, and motivated to achieve their dreams.

On a personal note, I currently reside in Fulton County, Pennsylvania, with my husband, Samuel Daughenbaugh. Together, we have five children: Harry Beckner III (25), Tyler Daughenbaugh (24), Emily Beckner (24), Natalie Beckner (21), and Taylor Daughenbaugh (19). We are avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fans, enjoy the occasional Broadway show, and, most of all, love spending time with our kids and grandbaby, Amara.

As principal of Shanksville-Stonycreek, my goal is to foster a culture of excellence, family engagement, and student growth. I want every student to leave our school with a sense of pride, accomplishment, and a strong foundation for future success. Let’s work together to build a bright future for our kids!
